Τι είναι τα Altcoins και γιατί υπάρχουν; Τα altcoins (alternative coins) είναι όλα τα κρυπτονομίσματα εκτός από το Bitcoin (BTC). Γεννήθηκαν για να καλύψουν κενά, να βελτιώσουν τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά του Bitcoin ή να εξυπηρετήσουν διαφορετικές χρήσεις (πληρωμές, DeFi, smart contracts, gaming κ.λπ.).
Γιατί υπάρχουν altcoins;
- Περιορισμοί του BTC: Το Bitcoin είναι άριστο ως «ψηφιακός χρυσός», αλλά δεν σχεδιάστηκε για έξυπνα συμβόλαια ή πολύ γρήγορες/φθηνές μικροπληρωμές.
- Καινοτομία: Νέα πρωτόκολλα φέρνουν δυνατότητες όπως smart contracts (π.χ. Ethereum), υψηλό throughput (Layer-1 όπως Solana, Sui), ή ιδιωτικότητα.
- Εξειδίκευση: Άλλα νομίσματα στοχεύουν μεμονωμένα use-cases (DeFi, gaming, αποθήκευση δεδομένων, cross-border πληρωμές κ.ά.).
Κύριες κατηγορίες altcoins
- Smart-Contract Platforms (Layer-1): Ethereum, Sui, etc. — Εκτελούν smart contracts & φιλοξενούν dApps/NFTs.
- Layer-2 / Scaling: Δίκτυα που επιταχύνουν/φθηναίνουν συναλλαγές πάνω σε βασικά chain.
- DeFi Tokens: Χρησιμεύουν σε δανεισμό, AMMs, stable yield, governance.
- Stablecoins: Σταθερή αξία (π.χ. σε $/€) για πληρωμές & διαχείριση ρίσκου.
- Utility / App Tokens: Πρόσβαση/χρήση υπηρεσιών σε συγκεκριμένες πλατφόρμες.
- Gaming / Metaverse: In-game οικονομίες, NFTs, ψηφιακά assets.

- Ρόλος: BTC = αποθήκευση αξίας/ασφαλές layer για settlement. Altcoins = λειτουργικότητα & εξειδικευμένα features.

Συχνά λάθη αρχάριων
- Επιλογή μόνο λόγω «υποσχέσεων» ή hype.
- Παράβλεψη tokenomics/vesting → πιέσεις πώλησης.
